Firefighters

Our firefighters are 100% volunteers. They come from many walks of life and constitute a wide cross section of our community. Many are firefighters from other departments/states that have moved into our community and wish to keep up with the valuable skills they possess.

The tools and equipment, as well as the protective personal clothing that are used by our firefighters is primarily paid for by fund-raising events and donations from the general public. It costs approximately $6000 to outfit a firefighter to enable him/her to perform the most dangerous job there is.
